19 October 2010 – Eni has been ranked as the best company in the world in 2010 for the online communication of its corporate social responsibility initiatives ("CSR") and activities, according to the 2010 Global Leaders, an annual study published by strategic communications consultancy Lundquist.
Eni retained its position as the top company for the second year running by achieving a score of 75.5 points out of 100 which was significantly above the average score of 47.6 achieved by other companies.
The study conducted by strategic communications consultancy Lundquist examines the 91 companies listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, the most prestigious international index for the evaluation of CSR, in which Eni ha been included since 2007.
The study outlines some of the major strengths of Eni's online communication on social responsibility and sustainability. According to the study, Eni's success is due to the vast and detailed sustainability section on its website, through which the company provides a wealth of information on its performance and targets, case studies, news and videos. Lundquist evaluates how corporate websites are used as a platform for CSR communication and stakeholder engagement. The research has been carried out on the basis of 77 evaluation criteria, drafted from a survey carried out by professionals in 30 countries.
By taking first place in the CSR Online Awards ”Global Leaders’ ranking for the second year running, Eni confirms its strong and continued commitment to pursuing progress in sustainability throughout every field of its activity, from its relationships with producing countries, where the company is establishing new cooperation models to support their development, to the promotion of human rights and environmental protection. A commitment which has enabled Eni to enter the most important stock exchange indices in the world for the evaluation of companies' sustainability.
